A fanlisting (FL) is a non-profit, non-commercial online listing of all fans of a certain subject, mostly for entertainment purposes. In this case, this site is an FL for David E. Kelley, who is a lawyer-turned-hotshot TV writer, producer and director. He has produced the most entertaining and most intelligent shows on television. More info about him here.

Why bother with a fanlisting? For website owners, a fanlisting serves the same function as any other listing -- more exposure for your site, since it gives you more backlinks, possibly improving your pagerank. For non-website owners, it's a fun way to connect with other fans of David E. Kelley. :)

Why bother with this particular fanlisting? I have been a huge fan of Kelley's since Picket Fences, a wholesome family drama. I was about eleven at the time. :P I love his works for two reasons: his thought-provoking, artistically lyrical dialogues (which can help out anyone who is starting to form his/her own writing style) and his intriguing characters that are built with such depth, you'd think they were real. Both are enough to draw anybody into his shows.

My favorite show of his, to date, is The Practice -- which I also happen to run a fanlisting for. ;) But I've enjoyed all his other shows, even the ones that weren't too popular or were canceled after one season (*coughsSnoops*). There is a distinct imprint of his intelligence, his quirky humor, and his ability to understand human flaws and triumphs and joys and sorrows that he could very well win the Nobel Prize for television (if ever there were such an award) He did win other awards though, plenty of them, in fact. My parents are a huge influence on getting me to like David E. Kelley, and the title of this FL actually came from my mother, who remarked once, after we've finished an entire DVD of The Practice, Season 2, "He really is such a prolific genius." :)
