Mr. Prolific Himself

David E. Kelley was a practicing lawyer who felt writing was in his blood, so he ventured into television. He got his start as a writer for Steven Bochco's 80's legal drama, L.A. Law -- and has been making waves from then on, churning out award-winning shows Picket Fences, Chicago Hope, Ally McBeal, The Practice, Boston Public, and Boston Legal. He's tucked Emmys, Golden Globes, and Screen Actors Guild Awards (to name a few) under his belt with these shows.

On a personal note, Mr. Kelley is married to Hollywood icon Michelle Pfeiffer. They have been married since 1994. I actually think Ally McBeal was patterned a bit after Pfeiffer's character in her film One Fine Day, which came out about a year before Ally was aired. ;)
